Maine Winter Studio 2015

“In continuation of the 2014 Fishing Lure Series…I moved on to actual Fish! A taxidermy Bass and three frozen sardines which thawed and were refrozen for three months in my basement deep freezer. The goal of this series was to merge the styles of Matisse and Edwin Dickinson.  Hence the still life of bold fabric and pattern mixed with intense patterns of light and dark.”

Erin McGee Ferrell
Artist Bio 2015
Born and raised in Kentucky, my core is bluegrass and colored quilts. I lived across America and have roots in the West. Educated in Massachusetts, I am a classically trained artist with a liberal arts foundation. Years of painting in Philadelphia awakened my love for architectural subjects. Based in Maine, I travel the country depicting architecture merging with land on large canvas. My style has been described as Figurative expressionism. I work from what I see with a strong academic foundation of drawing.
My work has been represented by galleries for the past twenty five years. As a mid-career artist collectors have begun to include large corporations such as TD Ameritrade, AtlantiCare Health Systems and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
