Changing Forms: Potential to Kinetic
I am an artist and a citizen scientist. My large paintings are interactive as touchable as 2-d sculptures. The traditional discipline of oil on canvas transforms through digital technology becoming powdered etched metal. My ideas and designs through heat and machine are altered.
Energy in the form of my visions and sketches on traditional materials are captured digitally and translated through wires, metals and cogs changing form. Much of my art looks at Microscopic Cells in Petri Dishes. Muscle cells have to contract to move a limb, Kinetic Energy. The image I have selected for the Idexx R&D Engineering Space represents these muscles cells contracting.
“Energy can change forms in a similar way in living organisms. For instance, energy stored in bonds of the small molecule ATP (potential energy) can power the movement of a motor protein and its cargo along a microtubule track, or the contraction of muscle cells to move a limb (kinetic energy).” https://www.khanacademy.org/science/biology/energy-and-enzymes/the-laws-ofthermodynamics/a/types-of-energy
